What We Do

The Community Development Team supports communities and target groups to engage with relevant stakeholders in identifying and addressing social exclusion and equality issues, developing the capacity of Local Community Groups and creating more sustainable communities.

Activities and Groups Supported

  • Group Training and Supports
    • Training in key areas identified by local community groups 
    • Technical support in areas such as grant writing, planning and strategic development
    • Direct supports for issue based groups and networks including Men’s  and Women’s Groups, Senior Citizens Groups and Disability Groups
    • Supports to area based groups and networks
    • Promoting and encouraging sustainability at a local level
    • Capacity Building and supports to voluntary boards or management committees and their members
    • Practical supports are also provided to ensure equality and inclusion measures are in place to facilitate participation in local and national decision-making structures.
  • Multicultural and Integration Initiatives
    • Information, guidance and support to the members of new communities
    • Anti-Racism Intercultural Training
    • Supporting Intercultural Groups and Networks
  • Family Support
    • Supporting Community Childcare and Families
  • Healthy Communities
    • Support for Holistic, Health and Well-being Initiatives and Events
    • Social Prescribing Programme
  • Community Safety Forums
    • Supporting dialogue between communities, Gardaί and Local Authorities
  • Regeneration
    • Participating in the Community Of Practice Shared Learning Experience around Regeneration Boards/Forums in Dublin 8
    • Supporting residents and tenants to participate in Regeneration structures
    • Promoting Social regeneration activities and initiatives
