The Tús Community Work Placement Initiative is a programme providing short-term working opportunities for people who have been ‘signing on’ for over 12 months. The programme is a Department of Social Protection (DSP) initiative managed locally by Dublin South City Partnership. Tús aims to break the cycle of unemployment and to prepare each person for a return to the labour market. Participants are also supported to improve their work readiness skills in preparation for returning to the workforce.
The programme’s 8 Team Leaders place and support 160 Tús participants across a range of community and voluntary organisations in our catchment area, providing 19.5 hours work per week for 12 months.
All work carried out by participants in the Tús programme benefits the community and where possible participants can choose the type of work they do. Those who are eligible to participate in the scheme are selected and contacted by the Department of Social Protection.
