Lifelong Learning - Erasmus+ 2026
Adult Learner Mobility in Uppsala, Sweden –
23rd to 26th February
In 2023, the LifeLong Learning team in Dublin South City Partnership secured accreditation with Erasmus+, as a Community Adult Education provider. This results in funding each year to promote learning opportunities for the various teams of people we work with.
Erasmus+ is the EU’s programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe.
The programme places a strong focus on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life.
It supports priorities and activities set out in the European Education Area, Digital Education Action Plan and the European Skills Agenda. The programme also supports the European Pillar of Social Rights.
Having accreditation is providing us with the opportunity to widen our horizons, as learners and practitioners in adult education; to see how other countries and organisations work and what they do; and to share our experience both away and when we come back.
Inclusion and Integration in Adult Education: Erasmus+ Adult Learner Mobility in Uppsala, Sweden, February 2026
From 23rd to 26th February 2026, learners and staff from Dublin South City Partnership (DSCP) took part in an Erasmus+ mobility visit to Uppsala, Sweden, as part of our Lifelong Learning programme. The theme of the visit was “Inclusion and Integration in Adult Education.”
During the four-day programme, participants explored how Swedish organisations support adults through community education, social inclusion initiatives, and employment services.
The group visited local community centres, integration projects, and organisations working with asylum seekers and migrants. These visits provided valuable insight into practical approaches that promote equality, participation, and lifelong learning.
A highlight of the visit was discovering the Swedish concept of “Free to Roam” (Allemansrätten), which reflects respect for nature, shared responsibility, and social trust — important cultural values connected to inclusion and well-being.
The mobility included interactive workshops, discussions, and outdoor learning activities, encouraging exchange of ideas and best practices between Irish and Swedish partners. Learners particularly valued the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds, gain international experience, and build confidence in a new cultural environment.
This Erasmus+ mobility strengthened DSCP’s commitment to inclusive adult education and provided inspiration for future community-based initiatives in Dublin.
We would like to sincerely thank our Swedish partners for their warm welcome, generosity, and excellent organisation of the programme.
