An invitation to Germany!
April 19 - April 26
Hello
As you may know, in 2023, the LifeLong Learning team in Dublin South City Partnership secured accreditation with Erasmus+, as an Adult Education provider. This results in funding each year to promote learning opportunities for the various teams of people we work with.
(Link to Erasmus+ https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/ )
Our Programme Plan for 2024 involves several training opportunities and several trips for our learners to locations within Europe.
The trips provide opportunities to widen our horizons, as learners and practitioners in adult education; to see how other countries and organisations work and what they do; and to share our experience both away and when we come back.
The theme for our Erasmus application focussed on inclusion and integration in adult education.
The Germany Trip:
We have up to 8 places available on a study visit for learners to Bad Kosen, Germany for 5 days between 10th – 14th June 2024 (dates to be confirmed, dependent on flights).
Two or 3 DSCP Lifelong Learning staff members will also be travelling.
The Invitation:
This invitation has gone out to all our Failte Isteach volunteers, and is now extended to learners who successfully completed a course / learning activity with us during 2023.
The offer:
Would you like to travel to Germany?
The trip is fully subsidised by the EU Erasmus+ programme. This will cover the cost of the flights, airport transfers and budget-style single room accommodation.
Our hosts, a catholic education centre called Konrad Martin Haus, will be arranging cultural trips and activities for the few days. All these logistics will be arranged for you, and members of the LLL team of DSCP (2 or 3 staff) will be attending the study trip and will be the support contacts throughout.
We anticipate that the only costs to participants will be some food/entertainment, but we would hope that this would not be a barrier to anyone wishing to attend.
” The Konrad-Martin-Haus, or KMH for short, is a Catholic adult education centre. We offer seminars and courses in the area of general adult education. We are also a popular conference location situated in the winelands near Naumburg in the region of Sachsen-Anhalt in Germany.
Many of our seminar rooms offer easy access for people with disabilities and thanks to our up-to date equipment our groups can work in analog, digital and hybrid formats. We offer overnight stays and home cooked meals as part of our community orientated educational philosophy – living and learning under one roof.
Over the years we have developed an expertise in the field of community based adult education. We offer courses and process facilitation to empower ordinary citizens who want to take a more active part in expressing their needs and shaping their own communities.”
Important consideration / requirements:
Participants will be required to:
- Have valid travel documents, which makes it possible to travel on the dates above
- Attend a 1-hour initial information / meet the Germany Trip Team (date provisionally Wednesday May 8th, 5.00 – 6.00pm)
- Attend a 2-hour pre-travel information session (May 2024)
- Complete a post-training online survey (June 2024)
- Attend a 2-hour review session (June 2024)
Selection process:
If the trip is oversubscribed, we will use the following criteria to prioritise allocation of places:
- Quality of application submission
- Anticipated benefit to learner
- Involvement with DSCP. **On your application please indicate what courses / workshops etc you completed with us in 2023**
- Commitment to the pre and post requirements (listed above)
Please also note, that there will be further opportunities provided through the Erasmus+ funding (all involving trips to locations in Europe), so those who may not be successful in their application this time, or those who may not be able to make it this time, will have further opportunities.
