In 2023, the LifeLong Learning team in Dublin South City Partnership secured accreditation with Erasmus+, as a Community Adult Education provider. This results in funding each year to promote learning opportunities for the various teams of people we work with.

Erasmus+ is the EU’s programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe.
The programme places a strong focus on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life.
It supports priorities and activities set out in the European Education Area, Digital Education Action Plan and the European Skills Agenda. The programme also supports the European Pillar of Social Rights.

Having accreditation is providing us with the opportunity to widen our horizons, as learners and practitioners in adult education; to see how other countries and organisations work and what they do; and to share our experience both away and when we come back.

From 24th to 28th March 2025, Dublin South City Partnership’s Lifelong Learning Team was delighted to host Erasmus+ visitors from Finland and Spain. The week was a rich exchange of ideas, experiences, and cultural traditions, all centred on lifelong learning, social inclusion, and community education.

The programme was designed to be both interactive and inspiring. Visitors took part in lively sessions with the Lifelong Learning Team and were introduced to the wider services of DSCP. They engaged with local learners through English conversation classes, and a series of thematic workshops exploring Irish culture, environmental sustainability, community education, and challenging stereotypes.

Beyond the classroom, the group enjoyed a vibrant cultural experience: a guided visit to Goldenbridge Cemetery, a knitting workshop, a documentary screening, and a trip to the Irish Museum of Modern Art. Outdoor activities and cultural exchanges created space for genuine connection, learning, and mutual inspiration.

The visit highlighted the power of Erasmus+ in bringing people together, fostering understanding, and celebrating the value of lifelong learning in diverse communities.
