Lifelong Learning - Erasmus+
Madrid,Spain: Exchange Expierence About History, Culture And Education
23 - 30 November 2024 (9 participants)
In 2023, the LifeLong Learning team in Dublin South City Partnership secured accreditation with Erasmus+, as a Community Adult Education provider. This results in funding each year to promote learning opportunities for the various teams of people we work with.
Erasmus+ is the EU’s programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe.
The programme places a strong focus on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life.
It supports priorities and activities set out in the European Education Area, Digital Education Action Plan and the European Skills Agenda. The programme also supports the European Pillar of Social Rights.
Having accreditation is providing us with the opportunity to widen our horizons, as learners and practitioners in adult education; to see how other countries and organisations work and what they do; and to share our experience both away and when we come back.
In November 2024, nine DSCP Lifelong Learners travelled to EOI San Sebastián de los Reyes, Madrid, Spain as part of the DSCP Erasmus+ programme.
This mobility experience provided the adult learners with valuable insights into the Spanish education system, culture, and history.
The week was packed with engaging activities, including speed dating style sessions, teamwork exercises, and cultural exchanges with Spanish students and teachers. Our learners gained a better understanding of the Spanish school system, and traditions, while also enjoying moments of cultural connection through music, discussions, and shared experiences.
One of the highlights was a fascinating lesson on the Spanish Civil War, delivered by knowledgeable teachers who made history come alive. Learners also had the opportunity to explore Spanish cuisine by tasting traditional snacks from different countries and even taking part in a Flamenco dance workshop.
A guided visit to the renowned Reina Sofía Museum was another memorable experience, where learners gained a deeper appreciation for Spanish art, particularly the works of Picasso and Dalí. Throughout the trip, the welcoming teachers, engaging discussions, and delicious school lunches encouraged meaningful conversations and cultural immersion.
Our learners returned with a wealth of new knowledge and unforgettable memories. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our hosts and coordinators for making this trip a truly valuable learning experience.
