Gerri’s Place aims to bridge the gap within the current framework of primary care services by complementing and supporting the existing individual, GP, and social prescribing referral care services model. The inspirational and dedicated founder, Rebecca, has always been looking at ways to solve what she saw as a life-changing gap in service provision in the health sector.

She was inspired to start her own challenging social enterprise founder journey, wellbeing breaks, due to the impact of her own personal experience, mirroring a lot of our social founder stories. Rebecca’s mum struggled with anxiety and depression for much of her adult life and didn’t receive the right support. She admits that many people would be surprised to know this, as her mum always had a smile and a joke for everyone she met. Looking back, Rebecca feels that her mum, like so many others, would have benefited immensely from early intervention, ongoing holistic support, and a reconnection with the community that would have allowed for the self-management of mental wellness.

Rebecca is determined to ensure participants will be empowered with wellness tools that they can then use to support themselves. Participants on her wellbeing breaks have the opportunity to try a range of therapeutic activities and workshops, whilst also having time and space to rest and reflect on what works for them. She has designed these breaks to enable people to find the right, personalised path to wellness, without judgement or consequence, whilst building a community that will help to reduce the sense of isolation and loneliness that many people feel in modern-day living.
